Don't shut this down thinking it is just the same rants you have already heard. I am writing the facts without a partisan twist. I am sitting at home stuck inside an ice storm which some say prove global warming. Many conservatives take this chance to laugh at the global warming folks. For me it makes no difference. I have come to the following conclusions:

  1. The earth cools and heats in cycles. Whether we are getting warmer or colder, either way, after time it doesn't end well for us.
  2. If we are getting warmer, there is not sufficient evidence to prove we are causing it.

If the those that think we are causing global warming (I'm looking at you Al Gore) want to say there is global warming, great, they have to address the two issues above. First, prove we are getting warmer over an extended period of time. Second, prove we are causing it.

There is conflicting evidence on point number one, but let's give that to the environmentalist as true. Most of them stop there. Evidence is pretty clear the earth was in an ice age at one point and that ended well before the industrial age or any period where it could have been caused by human impact.

Here is the truth, there are far too many variables to get good scientific evidence on the impact we make on Earth's climate. Is it crazy to think with all the gas burning cars and other human footprints on the earth that we have some impact? No, however, we live in a pretty big galaxy and in the grand scheme of things we are pretty small, insignificant figures in this massive universe. There is a pretty big sun that has a huge impact on our entire galaxy. It still seems likely other planets are warming. Like Earth, it can't be proved or disproved at this point. Are these other planets on the same natural warming cycle as us?

For those that think they have been to the edge of the Earth, global warming impacted by the human population is far from scientific fact. The rest of us, clear thinkers, believe there is strong possibility the Earth is round. We should be responsible with the resources we have. Spending ourselves into debt or throwing money at long shots just doesn't make sense. We can spend money much more wisely continuing to research with a smaller budget while paying down debt or sending it to fight disease that we know has an impact on saving human life.

Please, if you have any comments that prove we cause global warming, enlighten us. The fact is you can't because that science doesn't exist at this point in time.

Everyone knows by now the news of the Arizona shooting. The tragic event is even made worse by the partisan talk that should make every person sick. I am reading through President Bush's book Decision Points. This has brought me to some self evaluation that seems very relevant. We all need to bring common courtesy to the table and general good will to all people.

I first thought about this and thought, of course I do that. How well do I really think of the liberals out on the radio and media though? I don't speak badly of them as people like you do hear so much in the media.

In Decision Points, President Bush speaks of tough issues he had to face. This made me realize through all the many differences President Obama and I have, he needs some basic support from all of us. As an American, I need to make sure and do the most effective thing any of us can do. That is pray for wisdom and strength for our President to persevere and make the best decisions to lead us. I began my thought process, rightly or wrongly, by choosing to believe that all our leaders want want is best for us. I personally believe liberalism (and a step further, socialism), in idea are great. In real life they just don't work. It does the opposite of what it is intended to do. For the nonbelievers, look at history, socialism has not one single time worked over the long term, only the short term. In spite of this fact, I can choose to believe the liberal leaders just haven't and possible will never see that there idea doesn't work all the way through. I can disagree and support the Tea Party to bring us to a smaller conservative, libertarian style of government while still supporting our President. As conservatives, we don't have to spew hate like much of the radio talking heads. Eight years of that under President Bush from the left made me sick and left a sour taste in my mouth. I don't want the conservatives to attack the individuals who represent liberal ideas. We can be better than that. We can attack the message with fact. They don't have the facts or history on their side. We do.

Furthermore, The liberal leaders in congress, whom I disagree with on major decisions more times than not, are real people. They all need our support in prayer. In Decision Points, President Bush speaks at one point of inviting Senator Ted Kennedy to the White House. Two individuals who appear to be very opposite politically, but were able to get along behind closed doors.

I would like our generation to bring about a United States that is one that would allow us to see things very different while still being good people toward each other publicly. This doesn't mean government regulation mandating it (the libertarian in me strongly opposes this), but US citizens doing this because it is the right thing to do (I dislike puns, but intended here). Since this is the right thing to do, I would like to call all on the right to continue speaking truth to the points and staying on topic in political debates and refrain from what seems so easy, to speak down the individuals we may disagree with.

If you agree with any of this, let's say a prayer for all our leaders and leave our stamp for a better United States for generations to come.

Let me preface this edition of my blog with the events that occurred for me this week. I just did my taxes, filled out a census and helped my neighbor fix his vehicle.  How are these events related?
1) Ads all over the TV telling us how filling out the census will guarantee we get the money we deserve.  They promise to take care of the needs of the people.  No matter your ideology taking care of the people sounds good, right?
2) Paying taxes do serve a purpose of funding the necessary role of the government. However, where is the threshold of what we pay the government to do this job?
3) Charity is the job of every citizen of this planet.  It comes in the form of our time, money or any other resource we have to offer.  While this is required of serving our fellow man, it isn't to be forced.  America has served as the most charitable state this planet has seen.  It has been the nature of the people of this country since its inception. Charity however is just that. The benevolent giving to our fellow man in need.

One fact I need to put out there is that wealth, no matter how vast is finite.  The better stewards of the resources we have, the better we can take care of ourselves and those around us.  While we as a nation are the most charitable, any individual or group should always strive to be efficient with those resources we have been so blessed with.  As our government has grown it has always lacked the ability to be as efficient as a business or charity that couldn't just force the increase in taxes to self sustain.  Moreover, the people giving money to the government to distribute has reduced the charitable action of the individuals to those around them in need.

Now to my point the money I sent in taxes beyond just providing for what the constitution laid out could have been better spent.  Charitable action to those in my reach rather than paying for bureaucracy in Washington before pennies of every dollar sent in get to a worthwhile cause.  This month the government passed a health care bill that substantially increases the size of government and by its own claims will not reach every American.
In conclusion, even with the best of intentions it is selfish of an inefficient government to take money from the people to create any charity.  Whether by naivete or self-serving motives it is taking from the people that the government will never be able to reach.
